Fall Makeup Look of the Day
Back again with another fall makeup 2016 look for you guys featuring some of my favorite long-wearing makeup products! This look was originally shared on Instagram, so make sure to follow me there if you want to be one of the first to see the products and looks I discuss.
I had a press event this past weekend in NYC and wanted to wear something with a bit of glamour to it, but toned down enough that it wasn't out of place with the event I was attending. I chose one of my absolute favorite glitters (Lit Cosmetics Champagne Wishes), contoured my eye with a soft, smoky crease and threw on a pair of my favorite lashes.
I kept blush/contour/highlight soft and natural.
Now here's where things get a bit more interesting. I had to leave at 4 am and didn't return home until close to midnight, which meant I started applying my makeup shortly after 3 am and it had to last. I pulled out all of the MUA tricks I've learned and discovered over the years to make this as long-wearing as possible and I'm happy to report that the photos above were taken at the 12 hour mark around 4 pm with no touch-ups. When we finally got home around midnight my makeup was still completely in tact--major win! I'm happy to share some of my tricks of the trade if you guys are ever interested.
The pictures above were taken in natural light on a super overcast, rainy down (Oh, did I mention this face went through 30+ mph gusts of wind and some rain?) and has not been edited to alter the look of the products or their performance.
I've linked the products below and none of them include affiliate links, but I'd appreciate it if you let the brands know that you saw their products here if my post inspires you to purchase! I'm happy to be able to share some of my honest favorites with you guys. :)

Love your eye shadow!
ReplyDeleteThanks! My lid is actually covered in Lit Cosmetics glitter in Champagne Wishes!
DeleteYou are so gorgeousss!
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! All smoke and mirrors ... and the right products. lol ;)
DeleteYou look gorgeous! I LOVE the look, and that eye shadow? Boss.
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! Viseart and Lit glitter make a gorgeous pair in my opinion. ;)
DeleteLove that eyeshadow! I don't wear make up all the time but when I do I like coming to these kind of blog post that help me decide what is good and bad for make up.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks!
DeleteI love the look! Your lashes look like they are about a mile long, and that eyeshadow is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I have nearly no lashes, so I am a regularly wearer and big fan of falsies ;)
DeleteYou look great and your lashes are killer! I'm trying to get back into wearing make up again. I stopped due to being lazy lol.
ReplyDeleteHahaha I think everyone has those moments where it's like ... eh. Sometimes I feel inspired, other times I'm lucky if I remember to brush my hair before jetting out the door. ;)
DeleteThis is really neat makeup to try. I am not big on makeup but really want to wear a bit more that doesn't look too extreme. This is perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you :) I'm a big fan of glamorous, but wearable looks for professional events!
DeleteThis is a beautiful look. That eyeshadow is perfect for the fall and winter. I always love adding a pop of drama on the eyes, and this is great!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm a big fan of drama on lips and/or eyes, too ;)
DeleteThe makeup looked really nice and simple on you. I love that makeup
ReplyDeleteEnhances beauty. Makes me want to get better st applying it correctly.
Thank you! Proper application and placement is definitely key and whether on myself or someone else, I prefer to enhance what's there rather than change someone's features entirely. Faces are so beautifully unique! :)
DeleteOh wow - this turned out so good - will have to pass this onto my partner to see if she wants to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope she likes it as well!
DeleteYour makeup looks fantastic! I like wearing lipstick but prefer it to be subtle so I love this shade.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually wearing a balm on my lips, but it has a really nice finish to it. ;)
DeleteI love how awesome your eyes look and I would love to try some of these products. It is amazing how long you makeup stayed prefect. The Lit Cosmetics Champagne Wishes is some thing I am really going to have to check out. Thanks for sharing the tips with the products.
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! Lit Cosmetics has some of my absolute favorite wearable glitter, I hope you find something you like!
DeleteYour makeup looks fabulous. I love the eye shadow and know that my daughter would love this look.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope she does. ;)
DeleteThis is a beautiful look for fall. I need to learn how to put on eye lashes. I have tried and tried with no luck. Yours turned out perfect!
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! I think it takes a little practice, I've actually posted tips on applying them in the past, but two of the top tips I can give you is:
Delete1. Trim the strip to fit your eye (trimming from the outer edge if needed)
2. Cut them into 3 pieces so that you only have to apply smaller pieces at a time.
Good luck and feel free to come back with any questions if you're still having trouble!
So gorgeous. I wish I could do make up, mine never looks this good ever. This looks really great! - Jeanine
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! You totally could with a little practice! It's taken years of practice and studying (my MUA classes have certainly benefited my own face along with those that sit for me) to get to this point and not every day is a total win, but the more you know your own face and find products that work for you the easier!
DeleteI love the look, it's perfect for a date night or a dinner out with friends. I really like the shades you picked for your eyes.
ReplyDeleteAw thank you!
DeleteBeautiful look! I love MAC make up and these are great shades.
ReplyDeleteMAC was my first major makeup purchase as a teen so they hold a special place in my heart, too! I didn't use any MAC shadows here, but I highly recommend my holy grail shadow brand--Viseart <3
DeleteSuch a pretty look! I really love how dressed-up your eyes look, but not overly done.
