MAC x Osbourne Collection Profile
Sharoooooooon!
Sorry, long-time The Osbournes show fan here so I couldn't help myself ;)
MAC recently launched the highly anticipated Osbourne Collection online (in-store launch at MAC counters and stores on the 12th and I've heard at Nordstrom and elsewhere on the 9th). I had mentioned in an earlier post in January how excited I was for this collection as a long-time Osbourne fan when Sharon shared a sneak peek of her eye shadow quad. I also shared my first impression of the collection based on the information and promo pics shared in mid-May. As I'm sure you've gathered, this collection has been on my mind for some time!

The MAC x Osbourne Collection was technically broken up into 2 mini-collections--one for Sharon and one for Kelly. I purchased items from each mini-collection during the online release and plan to grab a few more things during the in-store launch. I wanted to share the items I have so far and my thoughts on them in case you're still trying to determine what to purchase. I did not purchase any of the brushes as I often find I don't like LE brushes. I also did not purchase either eyeshadow quad as I already own the permanent shades in each and wasn't sure if I wanted to grab either just for the packaging and LE shades. I'm still wavering on those!
I'm going to admit upfront that I would have loved this collection just for the packaging for myself, but I relayed my honest opinions of the actual products below. The lipsticks are KILLER and I'm head over heels for all of them. If you're hesitating to grab them, I hope you'll really consider giving these a try because they are stunning!

I'm not sure why, but some of my lipstick swatches have a strange yellow cast on different areas of my skin because my camera freaked out. Ignore them!

MAC x Kelly Osbourne Partial Collection Review - Cheeky Bugger, Jolly Good, Dodgy Girl, Riot House, Strip Poker, Kelly Yum-Yum
This mini-collection features pretty lilac packaging. For some reason I thought the finish would be a bit smoother or shiny than the normal packaging, but it's actually got that same slightly textured feel as the traditional black packaging. I'm glad it's not super shiny and fingerprint-hungry!
All swatches below were done on bare skin/lips. Tip! I found the matte lipsticks applied best when applied straight out of the tube for the 1st coat, then with a lip brush for the 2nd coat to even everything out and perfect the edges. Obviously this won't work if you're applying it to someone else, but for personal use this method often works best for me with finicky formulas.

Strangely, all of my lippies arrived with marks down the side of the actual lipstick bullets, but only one was so bad I felt it needed to be replaced. I'm not sure if there's an issue with some of the molds being used, but MAC was great about handling my concern and I should receive a replacement for one this week.
MAC x Kelly Osbourne Cheek Bugger Blush Review
MAC Cheeky Bugger Blush Review
Product Type - pressed blush
Finish - satin
Shade - light peachy pink
On the Cheek - super soft, slightly powdery in pan (not on cheek), super fine shimmer in pan (not noticeable on cheek), pigmented, showed well on my NC25 complexion
Price - $23
Where to Buy - Bloomingdales.com or maccosmetics.com (currently sold out) available in-store at MAC/MAC counter on June 12th
My Thoughts - I am in love with this blush and I was happy to see it was pigmented enough to show up on my (approximately) NC25 complexion. It is a lighter shade, but the final affect was soft and natural, yet noticeable.I've had issues with lighter blushes in the past, so I was surprised this showed beautifully. I think if you're too much darker than me it may be a tad too light and may simply fade into the complexion--I don't believe it will look ashy. This was powdery in the pan, but not on the cheek. I did notice a super fine shimmer in the pan and in swatches, but it's not very noticeable per say on the cheek, though it does give this blush a bit more dimension once applied. Overall, love it and need to grab a backup!
MAC Jolly Good Mineral Skinfinish Duo Review
Finish - mostly matte (bronzer), pearl (highlighter)
Shade - light pinky caramel (bronzer), soft pearly pink (highlighter)
On the Face - bronzer was nice and soft (not powdery), highlighter was soft and silky (not powdery)
Price - $33
Where to Buy - Nordstrom.com or maccosmetics.com available in-store at MAC/MAC counter on June 12th
My Thoughts - I was surprised by how much I liked this particular MSF. The bronzer is a tad too light to give me too much of a bronze look, but it did melt nicely into my NC25 complexion for a little extra depth. The highlighter is very pretty! I tend to like pink-toned highlighters. If you're darker than me I'm not sure this MSF would be a good fit, but for anyone lighter this is a great compact in my opinion. I especially love that the bronzer side isn't super orange at all. I have a cool to neutral complexion and orange-toned bronzers don't work well for me.
MAC Dodgy Girl Lipstick Review
Finish - semi-matte
Scent - traditional MAC vanilla
Shade - pink-toned lilac
On the Lip - creamy and lovely during application and on the lip, recommend a lip liner to ensure even coverage because it is a lighter shade
Price - $17.50
Where to Buy - Bloomingdales.com or maccosmetics.com available in-store at MAC/MAC counter on June 12th
My Thoughts - This shade is amazing! Remember when Viva Glam Nicki II came out and MAC recommended wearing Magenta liner under it to get that pretty bubble gum-y lilac? A favorite of mine. This reminds me of a slightly lighter version of that combo and I adore it! Grab this because it is phenomenal.
MAC Kelly Yum-Yum Lipstick Review
Finish - satin
Scent - traditional MAC vanilla
Shade - vibrant medium blue-toned pink (almost fuchsia)
On the Lip - extremely pigmented, super creamy, not neon yet very vibrant
Price - $17.50
Where to Buy - Bloomingdales.com or maccosmetics.com available in-store at MAC/MAC counter on June 12th
My Thoughts - I could gush about this shade for days because it is AMAZING! The original Candy Yum-Yum that Kelly loved so much and tweaked to come up with this shade is actually in my personal all-time top 5 lipsticks, but I'm happy to say this is a totally different (and must-have) lippy as well. Having a different finish than the original is a plus, too--more options to suit your mood! It applies beautifully, looks amazing on the lip and really ... it's just exactly what you'd want in a vibrant pink. I should mention that this stains quite significantly with wear.
MAC Riot House Lipstick Review
Finish - semi-matte
Scent - traditional MAC vanilla
Shade - light pastel pinky peach
On the Lip - drier formula (though not super drying on the lip if hydrated beforehand), settles in lip lines without liner, well pigmented
Price - $17.50
Where to Buy - Bloomingdales.com or maccosmetics.com available in-store at MAC/MAC counter on June 12th
My Thoughts - This is a lighter shade so I assumed that like most lighter lippies this would require liner and I do recommend it. It is well-pigmented so I was able to achieve complete opacity on my unpigmented lips, but this formula is slightly drier and does tend to settle into lip lines with wear so liner is helpful to achieving even coverage. While this formula is drier than some of the others, it isn't what I would consider chalky per say. The color is stunning! On my lips it translated to a beautiful, light orange sherbet--perfect for summer. For some reason, I often find that light peachy shades that look unnatural on others actually look like fresh, light nudes on me. The Hubs was around while I was swatching last night and he remarked on how natural this shade looked on me to him, which he found shocking after seeing it in the tube. Definitely a must in my opinion!
MAC Strip Poker Lipstick Review
Finish - semi-matte
Scent - traditional MAC vanilla
Shade - light pinky beige
On the Lip - fairly dry formula, though not super drying on the lip if hydrated ahead of time; lip liner will prevent dryness and achieve more even coverage with wear
Price - $17.50
Where to Buy - Bloomingdales.com or maccosmetics.com available in-store at MAC/MAC counter on June 12th
My Thoughts - I always have a difficult time with finding the perfect nude lipstick because of my complexion. I'm a cool-neutral beige and find many nudes are either too dark (I prefer lighter nudes) or completely wash me out. This shade is slightly more pink than Creme D'Nude (my usual go-to), though not super pink by any means, and it's the perfect nude for me and my NC25 complexion! I remember reading that when Kelly created her lippies (especially this one) she wanted them to suit all skin tones. While I can't speak for super fair or super deep complexions, this is one stellar nude lippy for those with coloring similar to mine!MAC x Sharon Osbourne Partial Collection Review - Peaches and Cream, Refresh, Cranberry
Sharon's mini-collection features shiny red packaging. Unlike Kelly's, which has a semi-matte finish similar to MAC's traditional packaging, this one is smooth. *sigh* While I love that Sharon's packaging is red, I did feel the finish on these slightly cheapened the overall look and feel of her products, which bummed me out because she's so chic and lovely!
All swatches below were done on bare skin/lips.

Sadly, my Refresh Mineral Skinfinish Duo arrived broken. The little clip on the inside that holds it shut was snapped off. MAC was fabulous about handling it and will be replacing it this week I believe.
MAC Peaches & Cream Blush Review
Product Type - pressed blush
Finish - satin
Shade - warm raspberry pink with silvery-pink sheen
On the Cheek - firm but well pigmented (not powdery); not shimmery, but has depth due to sheen
Price - $23
Where to Buy - Bloomingdales.com or maccosmetics.com (currently sold out) available in-store at MAC/MAC counter on June 12th
My Thoughts - This blush is definitely fantastic for anyone that felt Cheeky Bugger was too light for them. It's well-pigmented and really beautiful on the cheek. I love it and think most will find it's quite flattering! It's not at all powdery and while it is a bit more firm, it's not at all difficult to pick up on a good brush.
MAC Refresh Mineral Skinfinish Duo Review
Finish - lightly shimmery (bronzer), shimmery (highlighter)
Shade - orange-bronze (bronzer), slightly pink, bronze champagne (highlighter)
On the Face - bronzer was soft and pigmented; highlighter was firm, yet pigmented and shimmery; neither was powdery
Price - $33
Where to Buy - Nordstrom.com or maccosmetics.com available in-store at MAC/MAC counter on June 12th
My Thoughts - This Mineral Skinfinish Duo is very pigmented and not at all powdery. I have a hard time with orange bronzers because I have such cool to neutral undertones despite being medium complected, so I have to use a very light hand with the bronzer side of this to make it work. The highlighter side is a good deal deeper than Kelly's MSF Duo and perfect if you're tan or bronzed. I have to stay out of the sun (which is killing me because I love being deeply tan in summer), so this compact isn't a perfect fit for me at the moment. The textures are lovely though! I think a lot of warmer medium to deep complected beauties out there will definitely enjoy this as an alternative to the significantly lighter Jolly Good MSF Duo in Kelly's collection.
MAC Cranberry Lip Liner Review
Finish - matte
Scent - none
Shade - medium warm rose
On the Lip - extremely well-pigmented and creamy, reminds me a bit of MAC's pro longwear formula (slightly tacky upon first first application and wears very)
Price - $17.50
Where to Buy - Nordstrom.com or maccosmetics.com available in-store at MAC/MAC counter on June 12th
My Thoughts - I wasn't sure exactly what to expect with this particular shade, but since I love a good lip liner I took a chance and just grabbed it. It's an interesting shade--not a typical red, not maroon, not cranberry per say, not straight pink. It's not a shade I'd wear during the summer, but definitely a great fall or winter shade in my opinion! I honestly think that if you're a lip liner addict you need to grab it and try it for yourself, period!Final Thoughts
I'm really happy with everything I grabbed during the initial online launch! I do plan to try to get a few backups if possible. Of the products I grabbed, I think my favorites are the lipsticks (beyond amazing) and the blushes. I think of the two Mineral Skinfinish Duos, Kelly's is my favorite only because I have difficulty with orange-toned face products. I'll probably try to grab one or two of Sharon's Patentpolish lippies--2 are ones I didn't originally grab in the Patentpolish launch earlier this year. Definitely a happy haul at the end of the day!
Did you grab anything from MAC's collaborative collection with Kelly and Sharon Osbourne? Do you plan to grab anything when they launch in-store?
Kelly Yum-Yum is amazeballs! Looks stunning on you
ReplyDeleteThanks!!! I think Kelly Yum-Yum is definitely a must from this collection! Especially if you already love Candy Yum-Yum ;)
DeleteBeautiful colours! I've been waiting for the launch at MAC stores to see them in person, and I'm glad to see your thoughts of these already. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy shopping when you go! This collection is super lovely imo :)

DeleteI bought the quads and mineralize skin finishes on mac the day they launched and luckily ordered the lipsticks and blushes on nordstrom as soon as they launched. You're the same skin tone as me and those lipsticks look amazing so glad I picked them up!
