OCC Profile
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics is a cruelty-free, vegan cosmetic brand that creates stellar products for pro and consumer use. Products range from foundation to loose shadow; glitter to lip products. OCC is probably best known for their unique lip tars aka revolutionary lippies that are a hyper pigmented liquid lipstick products. I have been a long-time fan of OCC and have swatched quite a few lip tar shades over the years. When OCC released their original stained floss shades I fell head over heels in love. It is phenomenal!OCC has just released their latest collection--The Dune Generation. It consists of 6 shades of which I have 4 swatched and reviewed for you. I found these stained glosses to be a bit different formula-wise than some of the previous ones I've swatched. You can see a few of the first stained glosses that were released a while back in a former review we posted. The ones from The Dune Generation were a bit less gel-like and "squishy" in appearance--almost like a hybrid of the original lip tars and Stained Gloss formula. I've discussed all 4 shades below.
Really quick, have you see the back of the lip tar tubes with the new design? Love how much info is included!

OCC The Dune Generation Stained Gloss Reviews - Aurora, Hedonist, Nomad, Off World
I noticed that all of the stained gloss shades I reviewed from this collection had a slightly different formula than previous stained gloss shades I've reviewed. None were as gel-like as the original stained glosses and for some reason all but 1 settled into my lip lines within 5 minutes of applying. That being said, some were more obvious than others and all worked well when layering.
OCC Aurora Stained Gloss Review
Product Type - stained gloss
Finish - moderately gloss
Scent - peppermint
Shade - medium pink with hint of coral undertone
On the Lip - slightly thin formula applied smoothly, but less pigmented settled in lip lines and was noticeable up close; 2 coats for mostly true-to-tube color
Price - $18
Where to Buy - OCCmakeup.com Sephora.com
My Thoughts - This color is a fantastic summer shade. I was a bit bummed the pigment settled in my lip lines, but since it was really only noticeable up close I think you could wear this solo if you wanted to. I personally suggest wearing it over a liner, lip tar or lipstick to avoid obvious settling.
OCC Hedonist Stained Gloss Review
Product Type - stained gloss
Finish - moderately gloss
Scent - peppermint
Shade - light blue-based pink
On the Lip - similar to Aurora in forula, settled in lip lines pretty badly
Price - $18
Where to Buy - OCCmakeup.com Sephora.com
My Thoughts - This shade is so lovely, but it settled super obviously into lip lines right away. This is definitely a shade I would recommend for layering only. I can't wait to pair it with MAC Candy Yum-Yum or OCC Cosmetic Colour Pencil in Anime!
OCC Nomad Stained Gloss Review
Product Type - stained gloss
Finish - metallic; very lightly glossy
Scent - peppermint
Shade - rusty red with metallic red flecks
On the Lip - fairly thick consistency compared to other stained glosses; smooth, even application; nice subtle sparkle; did not travel on lips or settle in lip lines
Price - $18
Where to Buy - OCCmakeup.com Sephora.com
My Thoughts - This shade was very different from the other 3 I reviewed from The Dune Generation. It was thicker and more pigmented and did not travel at all on my lips. I also noticed that the base wasn't as glossy as the others, but the tiny metallic flecks provided a lovely, subtle sparkle. While I'm not generally a fan of deep colors in the summer, that does seem to be a trend this year and this color is well worth a try whether you intend to wear it alone or layered.
OCC Off World Stained Gloss Review
Product Type - stained gloss
Finish - moderately gloss
Scent - peppermint
Shade - light blue-based pink with lilac flash
On the Lip - similar to Aurora and Hedonist in consistency; beautiful lilac flash; settled into lip lines with wear; 1 coat resulted in less pigment and also less settling into lip lines; 2 coasts resulted in more pigment and a more obvious flash, but also more settling
Price - $18
Where to Buy - OCCmakeup.com Sephora.com
My Thoughts - This shade is gorgeous! If it were opaque it would completely rock my socks. On its own, it is most pigmented and has the most obviously flash of lilac with 2 coasts, however, more settling does occur in lip lines. With 1 coat the color and flash are less obviously (but still pretty) and it settled less obviously into lip lines. I would personally recommend wearing this layered over a liner, lipstick or lip tar as it will provide a stunning finish and hid any settling into lip lines a bit better. Despite its finicky formula this color is one I would recommend anyway simply because of how pretty and versatile it is when layered.
