Hello, my name is Doria and I am a lipstick addict.

Not too long ago I was browsing online, jonseing for a lip fix, when I came across a pic of the most gorgeous lippy color. It was unique, it was bright ... it was exactly what I wanted! I read that it came from a brand called "Dose of Colors" and quickly hopped on the brand's site. I'd heard of the brand here and there, but hadn't looked into them myself. The handful of lipstick and lip gloss colors featured on the site were beautiful! The kind of colors you attempt to mix, but can never seem to quite perfect. Some of the colors I wanted were intermittently out of stock, so I began watching the site and Dose of Colors' instagram while plotting my first purchase. But other lippy addicts kept beating me to them!

A ittle over a week ago, Dose of Colors restocked all of their existing lipstick colors (on their site and through Naimies) and released 2 new ones. I was ready. Let's be honest, I was beyond ready and practically camped out on my phone checking for updates! 8 hastily purchased lipsticks later I sat back and waited anxiously for them to arrive.

I've had the chance to swatch all 8 and I'm so excited to share them with you! Just remember, I can't be held responsible for large lipstick purchases made as a result of what I'm about to show you.

Dose of Colors Reviews - Coy, Dark Secrets, Karma, Love Potion, Play Date, Seductive, Soft Touch (new) , Sorbet (new)

As always, these were swatched and tested on bare lips without liner.

I noticed that while these are all fairly well-pigmented (some stronger than others), they almost all applied best when applied straight from the tube and then smoothed out and perfected with a lip brush. You know that I personally always prefer to apply with a lip brush, but it took many more layers to achieve opacity with a brush than it did straight from the tube.

All of the shades had a vanilla scent similar to MAC's.

Dose of Colors Coy Review

Product Type - Lipstick
Shade - super bright, white-based, pastel peach
Finish - satin
Scent - vanilla
On the Lip - 2-3 layers for complete opacity; slightly drying with wear, but not super noticeable; exfoliate prior to application to avoid unevenness or clinging to dry skin; best when applied from tube
Price - $16
Where to Buy - DoseofColors.com
My Thoughts - This color is amazingly bright! I'm not sure I have many lippies (perhaps some lip tars) comparable and nothing that comes near a dupe. I would definitely recommend a lip liner beneath this shade because it is so light--even with my unpigmented lips I saw some slight color peaking through with wear.

Dose of Colors Dark Secrets Review

Product Type - Lipstick
Shade - slightly red-toned purple (on lip)
Finish - satin
Scent - vanilla
On the Lip - amazing pigmentation; not drying or hydrating; very light-weight; stains slightly
Price - $16
Where to Buy - DoseofColors.com
My Thoughts - If you've ever wanted the perfect purple lippy this could definitely be in the running! I love the shade--super complementary. I found this to be very creamy and extremely well-pigmented. On my unpigmented lips I found the shade translated a tad lighter and red-toned than it looked in the tube, but if you wanted to achieve the same depth a lip liner could certainly help you to accomplish this. With the right purple (or blue) lip liner you could bring out more of the blue undertones and make it translate a bit more true-to-tube in that aspect.

Dose of Colors Karma Review

Product Type - Lipstick
Shade - nearly neon red-toned orange (think bright cherry tomato)
Finish - satin
Scent - vanilla
On the Lip - great pigmentation; light-weight; not drying or hydrating; extremely bright
Price - $16
Where to Buy - DoseofColors.com
My Thoughts - Wow! This lippy is vibrant! I don't think I own anything close to this exact shade. It actually took quite a few attempts and a lot of fiddling with my camera to be able to capture this as accurately as possible--I just couldn't get it exactly right. On my lips (which are not very pigmented) this swatched very similarly to how it looked in the tube. It's definitely one of the most interesting red-orange shades I've ever come across.

Dose of Colors Love Potion Review

Product Type - Lipstick
Shade - pink-toned lilac (radiant orchid!)
Finish - satin
Scent - vanilla
On the Lip - good pigmentation; non-drying; light-weight; smooth and creamy
Price - $16
Where to Buy - DoseofColors.com
My Thoughts - If you've been dying for a Radiant Orchid lippy this is it! This is such an insanely gorgeous color and the pigmentation was great. I absolutely love it and definitely need a back up!

Dose of Colors Play Date Review

Product Type - Lipstick
Shade - bright coral-pink
Finish - satin
Scent - vanilla
On the Lip - fairly opaque; not hydrating or drying, very light-weight; exfoliate prior to application to avoid unevenness or clinging to dry skin
Price - $16
Where to Buy - DoseofColors.com
My Thoughts - This shade is awesome! Like most super light shades, I find even application and opacity easiest to achieve when liner is layered underneath it and recommend it for this shade. This reminds me a bit of MAC Betty Bright (a huge favorite among bright lippy lovers). I'll try to remember to do a comparison post soon! Definitely a fantastic warm weather shade.

Dose of Colors Seductive Review

Product Type - Lipstick
Shade - rich fuchsia
Finish - satin
Scent - vanilla
On the Lip - super pigmented and creamy; light-weight; non-drying
Price - $16
Where to Buy - DoseofColors.com
My Thoughts - If you're a fuchsia lipstick lover like me, this is probably holy grail material. Amazing, amazing shade! Super creamy and so well pigmented. Love it!

Dose of Colors Soft Touch Review (new shade)

Product Type - Lipstick
Shade - light pink-nude with slight peach undertone
Finish - satin
Scent - vanilla
On the Lip - fairly good pigmentation; light-weight; not drying or hydrating; exfoliate prior to application to avoid unevenness or clinging to dry skin
Price - $16
Where to Buy - DoseofColors.com
My Thoughts - Without lip liner on my lips this is a really lovely pinky nude. However, because of its super light color I would personally suggest wearing a liner under it to avoid unevenness. I also suggest exfoliating lips prior to application. Very pretty and flattering.

Dose of Colors Sorbet Review (new shade)

Product Type - Lipstick
Shade - light-medium peach
Finish - satin
Scent - vanilla
On the Lip - good pigmentation; lightweight; not drying or hydrating
Price - $16
Where to Buy - DoseofColors.com
My Thoughts - This is a really fun peach color! The formula is smooth and while I would personally wear a liner under it to extend its wear (and always tend to wear liner in general), this shade was able to provide great pigmentation on bare lips.

Color in Base

If you're new to Dose of Colors you may have noticed above that the base of each lipstick tube shows the color of the lipstick it holds. I love this! I did find there was some inconsistency with a few of my tubes not being "full" in the bottom, but in general they showed the color perfectly.

As you can see, the color isn't even throughout the entire base like the one above. Not a huge deal, but this was the case with a few of mine.

Lipstick Tubes & Caps

I love that Dose of Colors chose a lipstick tube that is so unique from other lippy brands that it's easily identifiable.

The tubes themselves have a decent weight to them with the full lipstick bullet inside. Small nubbies on the inner lipstick tube (above the wider area of the base you'd typically hold while applying) catch and sit inside an indented ring that runs along the inner bottom of each cap--securing the cap to the tube. For some reason I had 2 caps that were very loose on all but a couple tubes--so loose they wouldn't stay on. When I took shots of the lipsticks above I placed the caps together and when I went to put the caps back on it took a little bit to find tubes that fit with each cap. This wasn't the case for all of them--just 2. It's strange given that they all look identical and I wasn't able to determine the cause.

Have you tried Dose of Color lipsticks? Which of the shades above have peaked your interest?

I didn't grab any of the lip glosses, but I'm interested to see how they work on their own as well as over these gorgeous lipsticks!

    1. Sorry for the late reply! My silly blog didn't alert me to your comment ;) Hmmm off the top of my head I can't think of an exact dupe, but if you're looking for a lighter pinky nude MUFE and MAC have a ton. Gerard Cosmetics' Buttercup isn't as light or pink, but in the same general family as well if that is easier to get. If I come across an exact dupe I'll be sure to update here though! I own quite a few nudes and not many are exact dupes, but many are super super close. If you can get your hands on Soft Touch somehow I highly recommend it--it's still one of my personal favorites! Have you tried reaching out to them directly? They may have an idea of where you can nab it in the UK!
