Founded in Paris in 1967, Paul & Joe launched its whimsical beauty line--Paul & Joe Beaute--in 2002. Perhaps best known for their beyond adorable cat shaped blushers, Paul & Joe Beaute offers a wide variety of themed cosmetics that are the epitome of dainty girliness. Paul & Joe's fall collection has a fairy tale theme that is incredibly sweet and lovely, which is what I'll be sharing with you today.

Set of 3 eye products including: cream shadow, pressed shadow, loose eye color

Shades

The La Belle Epoque set contains the following shades:

L to R - Shimmery deep pewter (pressed shadow), creamy lilac (cream shadow), pearly platinum micro-flakes (no sticky base), pearl micro-flakes (with sticky base) 

On the Eye

These colors are lovely to work with! The pressed shadow is silky and has great pigmentation (not at all chalky and I had no fall-out). The cream shadow is vibrant and has a thinner formula that does not tug on the eye. I recommend setting the cream shadow with powder to extend its wear. The loose eye color is so unique! It's not quite a glitter and it's not quite a typical powder. It's a super fine, flake-like powder that can either be patted on dry for a light dusting of shimmer or applied wet or with a sticky base for a layer of beautiful pearlescent platinum glimmer.

My Thoughts

I love this set! The colors complement each other beautifully and can be used to create a number of looks. You'll see below how I used them! The loose eye color is very unique and I love the versatility in finish depending on how you use it (wet or dry). If you're a fairy tale fan like me (Grimm's Fairy Tales have been a favorite since I was a kid--though they're quite dark) this is a must! Absolutely lovely.

Product Type

Paul & Joe's lipstick is a buttery lipstick that comes with the interior part of the lipstick tube only, which fits perfectly into their fun, interchangeable lipstick cases (these do not have a plastic feel to them).

Putting the Lipstick in the Case

All you have to do to put your Paul & Joe lipstick in the case is remove it from its packaging and slide it into the bottom half of the case. The case has several little teeth in the base that match up with the teeth on the lipstick tube, making it easy to twist the lipstick up or down.

Shade

Happily Ever After - medium, slightly deep pink

On the Lips

Happily Ever After has an incredibly buttery and creamy formula! It is actually a bit hydrating and very comfortable to wear. This lipstick has the type of formula and texture that you can throw on without lip liner, regardless of where you are, straight from the tube. This color fades gracefully with wear and does not leave lips patchy looking.

My Thoughts

I love formulas like this! It's not often you find lipstick formulas that are hydrating and hassle-free with nice pigmentation. Despite the fact that I have a strong preference for lipstick brushes when it comes to applying lippies, this is the type of color and formula that I would apply straight from the tube. It melts right on your lips and imparts a lovely blush of color that leaves lips looking healthier--which brightens your entire face! The color is such that I think it would complement a wide variety of complexions and given that it isn't extremely bold, I think even the lipstick newbies will find it a comfortable shade to wear. This is the type of color I'd recommend for those that want to buy their daughters/nieces/grandaughters their first high-end lippy.

One thing that always impresses me with Paul & Joe, is their attention to detail. Things as simple as the patterns on their lipsticks give me a little thrill!

All in all, I love this lipstick and I love how easy it is to use it with the lipstick case! This would make a great gift for yourself or any lipstick lovers in your life--hello, holiday wishlists!
