Summer-to-Fall Beauty Vol 6: LUSH Bombs, Bars & Cream

Products in this post were provided by PR/the brand

I shared this sneak peek on Instagram not too long ago of some amazing LUSH goodies I'll be sharing with you, perfect for making that summer to fall transition!

With fall practically here and summer coming to a close, it can be hard to make a smooth transition from one season into the next. New colors, textures, skin care needs, etc.--all of these things come into play as the seasons change. My goal with this series is to give you guys some ideas on products or colors you may want to integrate into your beauty and skincare routines as the weather grows cooler.  This post focuses on transitional skin care needs, highlighting some fabulous, lovely smelling goodies perfect for this time of year. All posts in this series can be found under the "Fall Transitional Beauty" tab if you'd like to see past posts. Hopefully you'll find this helpful and as always, please feel free to ask me any questions you may have!

LUSH Profile

Lush is an international company that creates handmade bath, body and cosmetic goodies. They pride themselves in offering quality products filled with natural ingredients. They are very vocal in regards to the fight against animal testing and tend to support a number of other worthwhile causes as well (something I personally love). Keep an eye on them because they tend to put out the cutest holiday products!

Sex Bomb, Hottie, Dream Cream ... LUSH is my kind of company--love their names!

Where to Buy

LUSH products can be purchased through their site HERE or in any of their brick and mortar locations

LUSH Sex Bomb Review

LUSH Sex Bomb

Product

Bath bomb

Scent

This has a floral scent that is predominantly rose.

In the Bath

This bomb is a very hefty size, about the size of a decent orange, so I (reluctantly because it's so pretty) broke off a piece and used it in the bath. Just a portion of it was more than enough to scent the bath. It fizzed fairly quickly and didn't leave any grittiness behind.

Where to Buy

This is available on Lush's site HERE. You can also contact your local LUSH (see link at the top of this post for the store locator page) to see if they have any in stock.

My Thoughts

This is such a pretty bath bomb and I love the name--you know my sense of humor! It's lovely smelling and certainly big enough for 2 to share ;) If you like rose scents, you'll love this. It is a more sophisticated scent and fairly strong, which makes it great for a warm soak in the tub in this cold (at least here in New England) weather.

LUSH Butterball Review

LUSH Butterball

Product

Bath fizzy

Scent

This smells a bit like herbs and spices with a vanilla-tinged butterscotch at the end.

In the Bath

This is approximately the size of a large clementine and could be used conservatively if broken in half or you could go all-in and use the entire bomb in one bath. It fizzed nicely and left the bath smelling amazing. It does leave little teeny bits of cocoa butter behind, which are skin softening and lovely.

My Thoughts

I love this! The smell is yummy and pretty at the same time--kind of perfect for a non-stereotypical fall smell (think pretty smelling butterbeer). I'm a huge fan of bath bombs in general (as are my kids and the Hubs) so this was a win. I think the price is fabulous if you want to treat yourself or include it in a gift (holidays are coming!). It didn't irritate or dry out my skin with use. I definitely think it provides a lovely bath experience.

LUSH King of Skin

LUSH King of Skin

Product

Body butter bar

Scent

This scent was a bit harder for me to identify. It's a bit spicy and musky, but I'm not sure exactly what I'm smelling. There may be something a little menthol to it? Almost like pine, but I'm not quite sure.

On the Body

This melts nicely into warm skin, but it's fairly firm, so you don't have to worry about it melting into a puddle in your hand while you use it. I wouldn't say it leaves your skin greasy. This instantly hydrated the areas I applied it to--literally!

My Thoughts

This is so convenient and it works so well! I imagine if you're traveling this fall or for the holidays that this would make packing a bit easier--no need to worry about liquids here. The smell is actually significantly stronger in the bar than on your skin. On your skin it is very subtle and soft, so if you're like me and prefer to wear a fragrance, you can still use this without it interfering with your favorite perfume!

I think this is also great for use on little ones and if your husband is like mine and hates lotions with any sort of "greasy" feel to them, this is perfect! My husband is a big fan of anything non-messy and convenient. I think it is well worth the price and while I obviously haven't been able to use an entire bar, I'd imagine this would last for a decent amount of time. This is such a fabulous way to keep your skin hydrated this fall--I love it!

LUSH Hottie

LUSH Hottie

Product

Massage bar

Scent

This was another one I had a hard time breaking down the scent on. It's slightly spicy with a bit of pepper at the end.

On the Body

This melts so nicely onto the body and provides a great amount of slip for an extended period during massage. It has the most interesting shape with large, rounded nubbies on one side. I took a picture from another angle so you can see them a bit better.

My Thoughts

Let me preface this by saying I loved reviewing this (I love reviewing bath and body products in general, but this was a teeny bit more fun than most). "Hey Hubs, I have to review a massage bar so ... here you go! Have at it!" All in the name of blogging of course ;)

I have actually had arthritis in my upper back since the age of 16. I've tried a lot of things and massage happens to be one of the most effective for temporarily relieving the pain, so I as you can imagine I have tried a plethora of massage products over the years. This is hands-down one of the best I've ever used--and I don't say that lightly! Unlike massage oils, it isn't messy and doesn't absorb so quickly that you're constantly reapplying. On the other hand, it absorbs nicely into the skin while you massage and when you're done you're not slathered in un-absorbed product.

Unlike many massage candles I've used, this actually provides an amazing amount of slip and it doesn't coat your back in a thick layer of waxiness.

I expected a bit more "heat" from this bar (I'm a big fan of natural muscle rubs that provide some serious warmth), but I think that will actually be a pleasant factor for many that don't necessarily like as much heat as I do.

I think this bar will easily last through a decent number of massages depending on how you use it as it really doesn't require a ton of product to get a decent amount of glide! I have sensitive skin and this did not irritate it.

I am in love! Whether you've got back issues like I do or you're sore this fall from raking leaves (or you just want an excuse to get a massage from your significant other), this is 100% a must in my book!

LUSH Dream Cream

LUSH Dream Cream

Product

Body lotion

Scent

This has a natural smell to it that I find common with natural oil-based lotions.

On the Body

This has the silkiest texture and while it's definitely more of a lotion than a butter, it hydrates really well. It has a barely-there scent to it that does not linger on the skin. I had no irritation with this lotion on my sensitive skin.

Ingredients

Price

This retails for $26.95

Where to Buy

This can be purchased on the site HERE. You can also contact your local LUSH to see if they have any in stock.

My Thoughts

This is a fabulous lotion if you have sensitive skin in my opinion in terms of performance! It does include parabens so anyone that prefers to avoid them would have to take this into consideration. This smooths into the skin so easily (I still can't get over how silky this lotion is) and absorbs really well. I didn't find this left a greasy feel behind and it kept my skin moisturized throughout the day. If you live somewhere like I do where it gets cold and dry very quickly, this lotion is definitely one to consider this fall!

I've heard from others that have issues with their skin that this has been a lifesaver for them, so it seems this is pretty well liked!

Have you tried any of these products? Will you be giving any of these a whirl this fall? What's your favorite LUSH product for fall?

  2. I already own all of these products and love them all so much! I love using Butterball in the wintertime before bed. The cocoa butter bits make my skin super soft! The rose in Sex Bomb stays floating in your tub when you use the whole bomb for one bath.

  7. I used to really love their stuff. Until they totally changed the massage to the aero version, Hottie was lovely but it's like 50% air now and far to expensive for me to order online :P not too mention all the fiasco with the international forum and such...
Hope you enjoy your stuff though! Baths are always fun and so are massages

    1. Oh no, is the volume or product still the same despite the new shape? I had never used the Hottie massage bar prior to now and my experience was great, but I can see how it could be a huge bummer if you receive less product for the same price. I hadn't heard anything about an international forum issue, so unfortunately I'm not sure what happened. Are you located in the U.S.?

    2. Sadly it isn't, unless they found a way to make the new product weigh less then the original with the added airation (is that a word?). I still have a sample of two knobs from the old style that I like using in the winter.
I'm in Israel but I've been on the Lush international forum for a few years and things have just gone really downhill there because of quite a few incidents which will be really too long to talk about here :P though if you feel like wading through it the international forum is here: http://forum.lush.co.uk/ (you may need to open an account for it) the people themselves are really lovely though which is why I stay even if Lush isn't quite my thing any more.

    3. I didn't know the product had decreased in weight (I don't own one of the older versions)--that's too bad. In the U.S. the price is still very good, but I can understand how that would be expensive if the product and shipping for you is high in Israel :( I don't have experience with the international forum, but so far my experience with LUSH has always been great! I hope you can enjoy LUSH again in the future, sad that your experience has been mixed :(
