A lot of people mention my skin on a fairly frequent basis. I don't struggle with constant breakouts, which I'm sure many of you assume must be great and it is, don't get me wrong! But my skin is sensitive with a capital "S". When I say it's sensitive I'm not just talking about sensitivity to ingredients (though that is a major issue for me), it's also sensitive to textures. If a powder isn't super finely milled or if a foundation is at all heavy and doesn't breath, my skin simply can't handle it. For all the products I review, there are handfuls I'm unable to review because my skin can't tolerate allowing me to.
My skin is also dry, with some areas that are a little oily. I don't get shiny, but those area do produce some oil. The older I get the more I do struggle with blemishes once a month as well--you know what I'm talking about.
So how do I care for my ridiculously needy skin? I've shared my current skin care routine and products with you below!
My Current Skin Care Routine
1. Cleansing
I can't cleanse twice a day every day. No matter how gentle cleansers are they're simply too much for my skin. When my hormones are all out of whack I sometimes will, but for the rest of the month I only cleanse at night. Currently (when I'm not reviewing skin care) I'm rotating between Juice Beauty Blemish and Chella Hydrating Cleanser Lush Balm. I previously reviewed the Juice Beauty cleanser HERE and Chella HERE.

2. Exfoliate
I exfoliate my skin either daily using Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1 or with Votre Vu re.FIND French Organic Complexion Polish--depending on how sensitive my skin is and how dull or bright it's looking. I haven't formally reviewed the Clinique Clarifying Lotion before, but I have reviewed the Votre Vu Complexion Polish HERE.

3. Peel
I do not use peels regularly and find most are way too strong for my skin anyway, but a few times a month (about 1x per week) I use Juice Beauty's Green Apple Blemish Clearing Peel. It does not sting or destroy my skin like most of the ones I've tried and ... it smells like apple baby food! In a pleasant way lol. I previously reviewed it HERE.

5. Moisturize
I have to moisturize regularly (once at night after I cleanse and once in the morning before I put my makeup on) and I find most moisturizers either irritate my skin or aren't hydrating enough. I am madly in love with Kaia Naturals Matte 24 HR Face Cream/Primer. I rave about it to everyone I know and don't see myself taking this out of my routine anytime in the near future. I previously reviewed it HERE.

6. Sunscreen
I protect my skin from the sun in general because I have to after everything I've been through in the last year with my moles, but I've always been careful about my face. I've never wanted my face to end up damaged or aged due to sun exposure! I use a number of different sunscreens depending on the season and whether or not I'll get a bit more exposure (hanging out outside where I may not be able to find shade vs. only getting exposure while sitting in the car). Currently, I've been using Votre Vu En Garde which offers waterproof SPF 30 protection. It smells great, doesn't irritate my skin, and definitely gives it moderate protection from the sun. I haven't formally reviewed it, but I believe I've talked about it in the past.

7. Masks
Oh masks, how I love using a good mask! I'll use mud masks, chocolate masks (raw cacao woohoo!), raw honey masks, paper masks infused with vitamins, etc. Generally I try to do 1 per week, but if things are busy I may not get around to it.
8. Blemish Help!
On the monthly occasion that I require a little something extra because my skin is misbehaving, I will generally use Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Wash. I reviewed it about 2 years ago I believe? But perhaps I should do another review in the near future since it's been a while!
