Jordana FabuLiner Bold Felt-Tip Liquid Liner Review

Products in this review were provided by PR/the brand

I thought I should preface this review by sharing that in true Friday the 13th fashion, my camera mysteriously refused to connect with my laptop, but after a lot of messing around, I was finally able to get my laptop to recognize the SD card when plugged in directly. Hope the rest of you have been jinx free today!

Product Type

Liquid liner in felt-tip "marker" form

This comes in a semi-glossy black

The tip on this is very similar to a pointed, felt-tip marker. It's pretty large, but because of its extreme point it's reasonably easy to control. The tip is firm enough to draw fairly thin lines, but it is not sharp on the skin (I've used some felt-tip liners that were so hard and sharp they actually hurt!).

Despite the fact that this has a fatter tip, it's actually fairly easy to control. The tip is firm enough to create a nice line, but not so firm it's uncomfortable on the skin. The liquid formula itself does not bleed and it is not waterproof. I found it reasonably easy to line my upper lashline and create a wing, but because of its wider tip and thin formula, it did not fill in between my lashes. Typically when I line my upper lashline with liquid liner, I draw along the lashline to fill in any gaps, but for some reason the formula in this liner wasn't cooperating. I tried filling in each gap using the tip and that seemed to work fairly well, but that could become a bit tedious if you used this every day. I found that while it drew fairly even lines, when filling in larger areas it applied a bit unevenly--again I think it's due to the fact that the formula is a bit on the thinner side.

This liner fell a bit short for me as I noticed fading in small patches within a hour of application. You can see in the picture below where there are some patches without product.

This retail for $2.99

Where to Buy

This can be purchased on Jordana's site HERE or at any of the drugstores that carry Jordana.

My Thoughts

I'm a bit torn over what I think of Jordana's FabuLiner Bold felt-tip liner overall because some aspects of this liner are amazing--the tip is easy to work with, the formula doesn't bleed, and it was easy to create a wing with. On the other hand, the wear and slight unevenness when filling in larger areas are downsides for me. As you can see it's got some really great factors and a few characteristics I wish had been a bit better. Given the price, I think this could potentially be a great product for someone that is newer to makeup or on a budget!

For those that own or want to purchase this liner (or those that use liquid or gel liners in general), you can very easily set liquid liner by patting shadow over the areas you've lined/drawn on with a liner brush. I didn't try it with this product as I wanted to review this solo, but it should help with wear and it should give you a more even look overall.

Have you tried this liquid liner from Jordana? What did you think?

  1. It's decent enough for the price! Thanks for a great review!

  2. I love this liner! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :)

  3. I just drafted a review for this too! I like it except for the patches, having to wait for it to dry some, going over it again to darken, etc. It's more work than I want in a liner :-/

    1. I think it's definitely a great budget-friendly option and decent for its price, which is super low, but obviously can't and isn't designed to compete with higher-end liners :)

  4. What is it like to remove? I'm always slightly nervous as I nearly always make a mess when using a marker like this

    1. It's not waterproof so removal is EXTREMELY easy and can be done with makeup remover, facewash or even water. I prefer waterproof generally because of the weather here, but if you want something more forgiving, this is it!

  5. I've used Jordana Fabuliner! Since I don't wear eyeliner very often I wanted something super affordable. I really like it, and it helps that I can practice putting on eyeliner without feeling like I wasted a bunch of money on it. Great review!

  6. I've never tried a liquid liner with this kind of tip....I think it would definitely help me prefect the winged eye! At that price I'm willing to take a risk at buying it even if I fail miserably at creating the look! Thanks for the review!

    1. It's definitely a great starter liquid liner! The tip has a great deal of control :)
