First Look at Red Apple Lipstick Swatches & Review

Products in this post were provided by PR/the brand

My lippies came in the cutest little bags!

Red Apple Lipstick Profile

Red Apple Lipstick is a cosmetic brand dedicated to producing gluten-free, non-toxic, cruelty-free lipsticks, glosses, eyeshadows, and balms. Their lippy shades range from natural and demure to bold. I was given the opportunity to review a handful of their lipsticks and 2 glosses. For those that don't know, I'm allergic to wheat, so I tend to avoid gluten when it comes to food. I haven't been forced to transition to 100% gluten-free cosmetics, but it's nice to know there are some options out there. I have several friends and family members that are Celiac, however, so I know how difficult it can be to find cosmetic products that are actually gluten-free when you need to!

Where to Buy

Red Apple Lipstick Swatches & Reviews

I received 5 full-sized lipsticks and 2 sample colors (and a sample of the balm, which I did not swatch as it had no color).

L to R - Coral Crush, Hibiskiss, Red!, Reddy or Not, Sugar Sugar

Clockwise from top - Rally Balm, Petal Pusher, Berry Blast

Shades

Since there are quite a few shades, I'll name and describe them below each swatch! All lipsticks swatched below were applied to hydrated lips (no liner).

Berry Blast (sample packet) - berry color with slight brown hue and delicate copper shimmer

Coral Crush - orange-coral (slightly less orange in person, but my camera picked up on the orange quite a bit)

Hibiskiss - deeper toned, yet vibrant, watermelon pink

Petal Pusher (sample packet) - bright medium pink with super subtle shimmer (my camera could not catch the shimmer because--at least in the sample--it was very fine)

Red! 101 - blue-based red

Reddy or Not - amaryllis pink-red

Sugar Sugar - blue-based Barbie pink

Application

All of these shades are incredibly buttery and smooth. They virtually melt onto your lips! I tried applying these from the tube as well as with a lip brush. While I personally always prefer to use a lip brush, I did find that these applied well from the tube as well. All of these have a creamy, semi-glossy finish.

Scent/Flavor

I may be off here, but these had a light marshmallow-y scent to me--super yummy!

Pigmentation

I was able to achieve complete opacity with every single shade above using 2 layers and no lip liner. Reddy or Not had the "thinnest" formula of the ones above, but even that gave me full coverage with 2 coats!

Wear

These are so incredibly pleasant to wear. They are all light-weight, slightly hydrating, and did not feather on me. Think Lipstick Queen-like texture I did find that using a lip liner underneath them extended their wear significantly, which is fairly common for me.

Price

Red Apple Lipsticks retail for $23.50

Where to Buy

All of Red Apple Lipstick's lipsticks can be purchased on their site HERE.

My Thoughts

I'm really impressed with all of these lipsticks! The texture is lovely and they're all very pigmented--even the lighter ones. I found that these were fairly hydrating before they began to fade--wearing a lip liner will extend their wear time significantly. All in all, I highly recommend giving these a try!

Red Apple Lipstick Lip Gloss Swatches & Reviews

L to R - Peppermint Sticks Nude, Mint 2 Be Hot Mess

Shades

I was given the following 2 shades to review.

Nude Peppermint - salmon nude

Hot Mess - sparkly deep pink

Scent/Flavor

I know Nude Peppermint is supposed to have a peppermint smell, but it actually smelled like it had a touch of spearmint in it as well to me! Hot Mess is definitely spearmint-y.

Pigmentation

These actually have fairly opaque coverage for glosses as you can see above!

Plumping

Interestingly, I found that both of these had plumping qualities! Neither was unpleasant, but both were noticeably cooling and tingly when applied. I had noticeable plumping with both, though I think Nude Peppermint was a tad more obvious--love it!

Stick or Not Sticky

Neither of these were sticky (I can practically hear some of you sighing with relief!), which doesn't bother me either way, but it's worth noting for those that prefer non-sticky glosses.

Price

These retail for $18.50

Where to Buy

These are both available on Red Apple Lipstick's site HERE

My Thoughts

If you want some plump, juicy, gluten-free, non-sticky lips then run (don't walk) over to Red Apple Lipstick and grab one of their glosses! They have a number of colors (I'm eyeing all the bright pinks and reds!) ranging from cleary to vampy. Definitely worth a try in my opinion!

Check back, I have a look going up on the blog soon featuring one of these lipsticks!

Have you tried Red Apple Lipstick lippies before?

  10. Lovely pictures! How long is the staying power for the opaque colors? I'm tired of chemical lipsticks. Thanks!

    1. Thanks! I have actually made it a policy to never remark on staying power for lipsticks because I have "teflon" lips and nothing stays on me for longer than an hour without using additional techniques and products--which wouldn't give you an accurate idea on how they'd perform for you. I know other people have stated they got hours of wear with these. I would suggest either testing one out for yourself (since people can have drastically varying results) or reaching out to Red Apple and seeing what they feel wear-time should be! In general, lipstick liner used to line and fill the lips will significantly increase wear of lipstick layered over it, so even if you didn't get as much wear out of these as-is as you'd like, there are many things you can do to lengthen the wear :)

      Hope that helps!
