Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil Review - Anarchy, Naked, Native, Streak, Venom, Ozone

Products in this review were provided by PR/the brand

If you're a lip junkie like me you've probably spent more time than you'd like to admit in the last few weeks pouring over Urban Decay's website looking through all the pretty lip pencils and lipsticks. I've been a fan of Urban Decay since high school ... which was quite a while back! I believe my first Urban Decay product was a shimmery, lickable body powder in honey or marshmallow (can't remember which came first). It smelled and tasted wonderful! Did anyone else fail to mention it was edible to their parents? Just me? ;)

Product Profile

Urban Decay currently offers 16 lip pencils on their site ranging from neutral to sultry; dainty to vampy. Ozone, an unpigmented lip pencil in the collection, is an interesting addition as it can be applied to your lips or used to line the perimeter of your lips to prevent feathering and bleeding.

Urban Decay lip pencils I'll be reviewing and swatching in this post

Price

These are priced at $19 retail.

Where to Buy

These can be purchased directly through Urban Decay's site HERE or through authorized beauty supply retailers such as Ulta or Sephora.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Anarchy Review

Urban Decay lip pencil in Anarchy

Shade

Anarchy is a super bright matte fuchsia.

Application

I found that these pencils glide on super smoothly and set fairly quickly--these are not hard like some lip pencils. They have this lovely grab to them that makes them perfect for keeping a budge-proof pout in place. They're not sticky like a lip gloss, but there is a slight tackiness that makes them the perfect lippy prep product. Achieving an even layer of opaque coverage was very easy to accomplish with Anarchy.

Wear

These do not budge and they wear for me the way pro lip liners from other brands wear. They are not uncomfortable and while they're not hydrating (for me), they're not extremely drying either.

My Thoughts

I love this color! I wear a lot of bright lippies (I'm not sure I've ever met a fuchsia or pink lippy I didn't like) so I will absolutely reach for this one again and again. Grab this if you like fuchsia or pink lipsticks or gloss!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Naked Review

Urban Decay lip pencil in Naked

Shade

Naked is a beige neutral that has a slight orange undertone.

Application

This pencil is very soft (in a good way) and creamy. I did find it to be a teeny bit thicker (I'm not quite sure how to explain it) compared to Anarchy, but given how difficult it can be to cover your natural lip color with neutral colors it's not a bad thing. Achieving an even layer of opaque coverage took a little more effort with Naked than with Anarchy, but not a great deal more. I think this set a tiny bit faster than anarchy as well.

Wear

These do not budge and they wear for me the way pro lip liners from other brands wear. They are not uncomfortable and while they're not hydrating (for me), they're not extremely drying either.

My Thoughts

While I don't wear deeper nude colors like this very often, this is definitely one of the better neutral lip pencils I've tried. I think this will complement a number of nude lipsticks and will be popular this fall paired with smoky eyes.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Native Review

Urban Decay lip pencil in Native

Shade

Native is a super light, slightly dusty pink.

Application

This pencil is similar to Anarchy consistency-wise and application-wise. It was easy to achieve a nice even, opaque layer of coverage with Native

Wear

These do not budge and they wear for me the way pro lip liners from other brands wear. They are not uncomfortable and while they're not hydrating (for me), they're not extremely drying either.

My Thoughts

This is such a great light pink liner! I have so many white-based pinks that I like wearing and it can be so hard to find light pink liners that are opaque and not hard or chalky. This is one I highly recommend if you like to wear lighter lip shades, want to soften a super bright color or wish to lighten a darker lipstick!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Streak

Urban Decay lip pencil in Streak

Shade

Streak is a super bright orange-coral filled with micro-sparks. This one almost has a satin finish to it.

Application

This pencil is similar to Anarchy consistency-wise and application-wise with the addition of the super teeny sparkles. It was easy to achieve a nice even, opaque layer of sparkly coverage with Streak.

Wear

These do not budge and they wear for me the way pro lip liners from other brands wear. They are not uncomfortable and while they're not hydrating (for me), they're not extremely drying either. This is not gritty, but feels like the others that do not contain the teeny sparkles--I am very picky about that and my lips are sensitive to glitter grit in lip products.

My Thoughts

I'm not sure I've ever come across a lip liner quite like this one! This is easily pretty enough to wear as-is with some balm (to keep your lips refreshed) or clear gloss over it. I like it so much I'd almost feel guilty covering it up, but I'm sure it's stunning under Urban Decay's Revolution Lipstick in Streak or other complementary shades--gotta get my hands on Revolution lipstick in Streak! This is definitely a must in my opinion if you like bright orange-corals.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Venom Review

Shade

Venom is a deep wine matte shade.

Application

This pencil is similar to Native consistency-wise and application-wise--soft and lovely to work with. It was easy to achieve a nice even, opaque layer of coverage with Venom.

Wear

These do not budge and they wear for me the way pro lip liners from other brands wear. They are not uncomfortable and while they're not hydrating (for me), they're not extremely drying either.

My Thoughts

I have many other purple lip liners, but nothing identical to Venom! There is something so deep and vampy about this color, I can see it being very popular this fall. Definitely worth grabbing if you like colors like this. I'm certainly going to be getting some use out of it!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Ozone Review

Shade

Ozone is a clear lip pencil with no color.

Application

This pencil is similar to Anarchy, Native and Venom consistency-wise and application-wise--soft and creamy. It is easy to work with whether filling in your lips or lining the perimeter of your lips.

Wear

This absolutely extended the wear of my lipstick and prevented feathering/bleeding.

My Thoughts

I am personally a huge fan of clear lip pencils and own several--this is a fabulous addition to my collection! Sometimes you don't have or don't want to use a complementary lip liner shade so this works great! Also, if you're like me and hovering around 30 and beginning to have some issues with feathering/bleeding due to lovely little lines in your lips beginning to appear, this does the trick! By lining the perimeter of your lips you create an invisible barrier that prevents your lip products from straying from you lips--it's really phenomenal and works like a charm every time for me. I think this is a great investment as it can be used with virtually any lip product without altering its color. I'm a fan, can you tell?

Final Re-Cap

Price

These are priced at $19 retail.

Where to Buy

These can be purchased directly through Urban Decay's site HERE or through authorized beauty supply retailers such as Ulta or Sephora.

Final Thoughts

The colors and textures of these lip pencils are unique and well-worth the money (in my opinion) if you're a lip junkie like me. If you've ever tried certain lip primers you'll notice they have a slight tackiness to them as they begin to set to help adhere your lipstick to them better. This has comparable performance from my experience and is a phenomenal way to play around with or complement your lip products. Ozone may not be pigmented, but it is super versatile and must-buy in my book. I'm in love with these and absolutely need a few of the other shades--69, Bang, Jilted, Obsessed and Turn On.

I'll be sharing some swatches of Urban Decay's Revolution lipsticks as well so check back soon!

Have you tried Urban Decay's amazing lip pencils? Which shades are your favorites?

  9. The color in native is so neutral, I feel like it would be a great base for anything.

    1. It's definitely a great neutral! :) I think it would work well for most colors, though depending on how opaque the lipstick is you may want to experiment as these liners are a bit thicker than others so it will likely blend into and affect the lipstick over it a bit.
