Summer-to-Fall Transitional Beauty Series Vol 1: BECCA Cosmetics

Products in this review were provided by PR/the brand

With fall right around the corner and summer coming to a close, it can be hard to make a smooth transition from one season into the next. New colors, textures, skin care needs, etc.--all of these things come into play as the seasons change. My goal with this series is to give you guys some ideas on products or colors you may want to integrate into your beauty and skincare routines as the weather grows cooler.  Each post in this series will feature a look and then highlight the individual products used (with a brief review of each). All posts in this series can be found under the "Fall Transitional Beauty" tab if you'd like to see past posts. Hopefully you'll find this helpful and as always, please feel free to ask me any questions you may have!

BECCA PRODUCT PROFILE

BECCA was founded by makeup artist Rebecca Morrice Williams back in 2001. The brand offers a fairly comprehensive spectrum of foundation, cheek and lip shades along with other complementary beauty products.

Where to Buy

BECCA products are available for purchase directly from their site HERE or through Sephora Here

The Look

Excuse the hair, the heat and humidity here skyrocketed today after a couple weeks of cool weather--misery for my textured hair despite using a million products to battle the frizz!

Look Description

For this look I wanted to create a warm, even complexion with a complementary matte red lip. The BECCA blush added a gorgeous flush to my cheeks and the primer and foundation photographed quite nicely. Just because it's nearly fall doesn't mean the warmth of summer instantly disappears, I like to think it fades gradually!

BECCA Resurfacing Primer

BECCA Resurfacing Primer

Product Type

This is a matte face primer meant to reduce both pores and shine.

Price

This retails for $40.

Where to Buy

This can be purchased through BECCA's site HERE or through Sephora Here

My Thoughts

I like this primer. It has a smooth, creamy feel to it while being applied and it dries fairly quickly. I used this over cleansed, moisturized skin (using a matte moisturizer). It is matte once dry, but not super dull. I found it worked well with the BECCA foundation that I used. While I wouldn't say it magically erases all facial lines, it does smooth the surface a bit and it photographs well with BECCA's Radian Skin Satin Finish Foundation. I did not have any irritation from this primer with my sensitive skin.

BECCA Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation in Nude

BECCA Radiant Skin Satin Finish Foundation

Product Type

This foundation is meant for all skin types. It is meant to provide medium, buildable yet lightweight coverage with a satin (I would assume that means slightly dewy) finish.

Shade

Nude is a medium beige with neutral to warm undertones. I find it to be a bit of a yellow-beige with warm undertones.

Price

This retails for $42.

Where to Buy

This can be purchased from BECCA HERE or through Sephora Here

My Thoughts

This foundation was very close to my natural complexion and offered light to medium coverage. I would say it was a tiny bit more yellow than my actual complexion and a tiny bit warmer. My face is beige with neutral-cool undertones. I'm around an NC25-30, depending on the season, for reference. This smoothed into my complexion and easily blended out with a synthetic foundation brush. I did find that it oxidized slightly on dry trouble-areas (aka my nose), but otherwise it seemed to wear well. This does have a dewy finish to it, which I like, but if you prefer matte you'll want to mattify it after application. This did not irritate my skin, but I did notice that either this or the primer felt slightly drying on my skin by the end of the day. I have sensitive, dry skin so those that do not have either issue may not notice anything.

BECCA Beach Tint in Dragonfruit

L to R - Swiped, Blended

Product Type

Beach Tint is a water-resistant combination lip and cheek stain.

Color

Dragonfruit is a lovely, rich mid-tone watermelon pink.

Scent/Flavor

Dragonfruit has an absolutely lovely fruity sweet smell that isn't heavy but is noticeable while wet. I'm assuming it's supposed to smell the way a dragonfruit tastes. I'm sensitive to scents but I found this incredibly pleasant.

Application

I haven't used this yet for my lips, but it blended out nicely on my skin and stained well. I would recommend blending it out fairly quickly after applying to prevent any patchiness, though I wouldn't say it sets instantly.

Price

This retails for $25.

Where to Buy

This can be purchased from BECCA HERE or through Sephora Here.

My Thoughts

I really like this for cheeks! I'm eager to try it for lips as well. Granted I love cream/gel cheek stains, this is definitely very nice from the color to the scent to the way it blends out. This would be a fabulous product for those heading back to work or school this fall that want to condense the beauty products they keep in their handbags.

BECCA Mineral Blush in Damselfly

Becca Mineral Blush in Damselfly

Product Typ

Pressed mineral blush

Shade

Damselfly is a coral with gold shimmer.

Application

This applies and blends well. The product itself is extremely finely milled and almost powdery in the compact, but it is not powdery on the cheeks. I often have an issue with blushes not showing up on my complexion because they're too light or not pigmented enough, but this applied beautifully with a semi-light hand. I also found the slight golden shimmer to be extremely finely milled and not chunky.

Price

This retails for $32.

Where to Buy

This can be purchased from BECCA HERE or through Sephora Here

My Thoughts

I am so incredibly impressed with this blush! Because it is so finely milled it almost melts into the skin and looks as though the warmth is coming from within rather than sitting on top of your cheeks. In the past I haven't been a huge fan of shimmery blushes as I found most to be sparkly, but when I applied this blush along my cheek bones then pulled it down (and contoured after) it had a really nice effect. This has changed my mind about shimmer in my blush--or at least shimmer in BECCA's blushes. Definitely lovely, lovely, lovely!

BECCA Ultimate Matte Lip Colour in Josephine

Becca Ultimate Matte Lip Colour in Josephine

Product

Matte lipstick

Shade

Josephine is a medium red-berry matte color.

Scent/Flavor

I detected a super subtle vanilla-like scent.

Application

This applied very smoothly, though I personally prefer using a lip brush with this shade rather than applying straight from the tube. Despite being a matte color and offering opaque coverage, I did not find that this tugged at my lips during application nor did it shrivel them up instantly as some mattes will.

Price

This retails for $24.

Where to Buy

This can be purchased directly from BECCA HERE or through Sephora Here

My Thoughts

I love that this lipstick did not feather at all on my lips (which has become an increasing problem for the last year or so). Without lipliner it wore fairly quickly when only 2 coats were applied directly to the lips, but as I never wear lipstick without liner I personally wouldn't find that to be an issue. For those that prefer not to wear liner you may find the wear to be slightly quick. This formula was slightly drying, but not nearly as drying as most mattes I've had the pleasure of using. Despite the fact it looks like it has a semi-glossy finish, it is completely matte in person. This color is lovely and I think it would complement a number of complexions. This would also be great for someone that wants a less ostentatious red lip or "office appropriate" lip color as we transition into fall.

What do you think? Will you be adding any of these products into your summer-to-fall transitional beauty routine?
