Summer-to-Fall Beauty Vol 4: MAKE Colour

Products in this post were provided by PR/the brand

With fall right around the corner and summer coming to a close, it can be hard to make a smooth transition from one season into the next. New colors, textures, skin care needs, etc.--all of these things come into play as the seasons change. My goal with this series is to give you guys some ideas on products or colors you may want to integrate into your beauty and skincare routines as the weather grows cooler.  Each post in this series features a look and then highlights the individual products used (with a brief review of each). All posts in this series can be found under the "Fall Transitional Beauty" tab if you'd like to see past posts. Hopefully you'll find this helpful and as always, please feel free to ask me any questions you may have!

MAKE Colour Profile

MAKE Colour has been a favorite brand of mine for just under a year. I love that 1/3 of all their sales (not profit) go towards the We See Beauty Foundation, which help support and spread awareness for co-ops. They offer a wide variety of cosmetic products and they have one of my absolute favorite lipstick formulas ever

The Look

Wearing: Silk Cream Lipstick in Magnolia, Solstice Bronze in Warm 3, Skin Illuminator in Sade

Look Description

I wanted to create a super simple look that focused on a pretty lip and subtle summer glow. The weather may be growing cooler soon, but a subtle bronzed look can be a great way to ease into fall while maintaining a bit of your summer color.

MAKE Colour Skin Illuminator in Sade

MAKE Colour Skin Illuminator in Sade

Product Type

This is an illuminator meant for highlighting parts of the face.

Shade

Sade is a warm, coppery bronze with shimmer.

Packaging

This comes in a thick click pen (which seems to be fairly popular right now among cosmetic companies) with a paddle-brush-style applicator attached.

Application

This product is interesting. It's slightly thicker than other popular highlighters and very shimmery, but the base is less pigmented than I thought it would be. When blended in you can really only see the shimmer, not the base. I personally recommend applying it with the built-in brush, but blending it out with your fingers as the built-in brush tends to apply it fairly thickly.

Effect

This gives the face a fairly noticeable bronze shimmer wherever you apply it. If you don't like noticeable shimmer, this would not be the product for you, but if that's something you like then this is worth a shot. The shimmer is not "chunky" compared to some bronze illuminators out there.

Price

This is priced at $34 retail.

Where to Buy

My Thoughts

I think this takes a tiny bit more effort to blend in the way I want it to compared to thinner liquid highlighters, but the effect is very pretty on bronzed skin and worth it if that's what you're aiming for. The shimmer is noticeable which is something I find most people either love or hate. I find that I like shimmer with bronzed looks or when I have a tan. Since this series is about transitional beauty, I think this product can go from summer into fall, but would probably be something you'd put away once the weather gets too cold unless you have a deeper complexion naturally. The shimmer particles are small and they're not gritty or "chunky". All in all, I think this would be most popular with those sporting bronzed looks as well as those with medium-deep complexions.

MAKE Colour Solstice Bronze in Warm #3

MAKE Colour Solstice Bronzer in Warm #3

Product Type

This is a pressed multi-toned bronzer.

Shade

Warm #3 is the deepest of the 3 available shades and is meant for medium to deep complexions. It is definitely warm and I found on my medium complexion that it provided a soft, yet noticeable bronzing effect. It has a decent amount of shimmer to it and the slight pink mixed in gives it a more realistic bronzing effect as sun-kissed skin usually has a pink or red undertone to it.

Application

This is extremely finely milled and it blends into the skin easily with a powder brush. Because it has shimmer to it you'll want to play around with how light or heavy you wish to apply it. When I applied it I used the "3" formation technique on either side of my face around the outer edges.

Effect

This imparts a warm, tanned effect to the skin. The shimmer is very fine and only very slightly noticeable within standing distance.

Price

This retails for $25

My Thoughts

The color of this bronzer is possibly one of the nicest ones I've tried this year. The multi-tonal effect is lovely and less flat than most bronzers I've used. I did not get that "dirty" effect in personal that you can sometimes end up with when using bronzers. I found this color worked well on my medium complexion  though I think Warm #2 would also work well, though possibly less noticeable. I will definitely be using this to give myself a pseudo end of summer/beginning of fall glow!

MAKE Colour Silk Cream Lipstick in Magnolia

MAKE Colour Silk Cream Lipstick in Magnolia

Shade

Magnolia is a medium pink with a subtle lavender hue that didn't quite translate in this macro shot, but that you can see a bit more in the face shot above. This has a satin finish.

Application

This smooths on perfectly like every other Silk Cream formula I've tried from MAKE. It is completely opaque with 1-2 coats (I did not use liner above to prevent altering the color).

Wear

If you love light-weight lipsticks that feel fabulous on your lips and don't budge--get yourself over to MAKE's site and buy all their Silk Creams. This is literally one of my all-time favorite lipstick formulas. I love it, I love it, I love it. It is so comfortable, non-drying, and budge-proof.

Price

This is priced at $25 retail.

Where to Buy

This can be purchased directly from MAKE Colour HERE

My Thoughts

I'm sure you already know I'm in love! The color is delicate and pretty and the formula is to die for! This is beautiful and I will certainly wear it on days I want a more demure lip color this fall.

MAKE Colour Matte Lipstick in Rust

MAKE Colour Matte Lipstick in Rust

Shade

Rust is a pumpkin orange. Not a super bright orange, but that true pumpkin color that has a subtle brown undertone. While this is technically a matte, it is not extremely flat. It isn't glossy, but it reflects enough light to prevent it from looking like you drew on your lips with a crayon.

Application

This smooths on perfectly--all of their matte formulas that I've tried so far have been this easy to work with. It is completely opaque with 1-2 coats (I did not use liner above to prevent altering the color).

Wear

This is a fabulous lipstick formula, but the fact that it's matte and is so incredibly light-weight and non-drying is just ... amazing to me. I don't know what MAKE is doing differently, but their matte lipsticks are literally my favorites formula-wise! And they don't budge! Stellar formula.

This is priced at $25 retail.

My Thoughts

When I first saw this color I had no idea how it would translate on my lips. I can wear 99% of the colors I come across (nudes being the only consistently finicky ones) because of my coloring, but a color like this always has me worried. Ironically, once I put it on I found I actually didn't mind it! It is the epitome of fall in a color--think Starbucks Pumpkin Chai (which I ironically hate even though I adore pumpkin, but I know it's popular) and crunchy leaves under your feet. With a slightly bronzed look, this somehow works for me! I think it's going to be the color you'll love or hate, but I wouldn't discount it immediately simply because it's a tad unconventional.

What do you think? Will you be adding any of these MAKE Colour products to your fall transitional beauty routine?

    1. That is very sweet of you to say! The past week and a half has been pretty tough dealing with school things for the boys so I know I'm looking a bit haggard, but thank you that made me feel a little less awful :)
