Moom Skin Nourishing Organic Hair Remover System Review

Products in this review were provided by PR/the brand

For those of you that have followed me for some time you know that I prefer natural ingredients when it comes to my skin care--hair removal products included. MOOM's hair removal system has an impressively natural list of ingredients (Sugar, Water, Chamomile, Lavender and Lemon Juice) as you can see.

I have used many different hair removal products over the years--wax, sugaring, depilatories, epilators, Nad's, etc. My pain tolerance is naturally fairly high and things like this don't typically bother me unless they either irritate my skin or don't work properly. When given the opportunity to give MOOM a try I jumped at the chance--oh the things we do for smooth legs ... and the pursuit of honest, first-hand information for our readers ;)

Product Type

The MOOM hair removal system I used is essentially a "sugaring" hair removal product. It's derived from sugar, water, lemon juice, and some botanical ingredients meant to sooth/nourish the skin (see ingredients above).

Heating

This may shock some of you, but we have a microwave-free household. We haven't used one in over 3 years simply because it was a life-choice we decided to make for our family. I'm not going to get into why in this post, but the reason I mention it is because this product can be heated 1 of 2 ways--microwave or warm water bath. As we don't use microwaves I heated mine up in a small sauce pan of water filled to about just under half-way up the jar. The jar is made of nice sturdy glass and is meant to withstand the heat of the water. Be sure to read the instructions on temperature if you try this product so you don't burn yourself!

Application

As with most products of this nature you use wood popsicle stick-like spatulas to spread a thin, even coat on the area you're removing hair from in the direct the hair grows. Once warmed, this smoothed on easily. I would recommend re-heating a smidge if it starts to pull a bit too much on your skin as you spread it.

Hair Removal

This removed hair well! I did follow the directions and waited 2 weeks after shaving (which took some willpower) to allow enough hair growth for this to be effective since I was transitioning from shaving to this type of hair removal. If you've ever waxed or used comparable products at home you've probably had the experience where you rip off the strip and lo and behold ... there are patches of hair left over. That was not the case with this at all. It remove everything where I used it and left the surface of my skin smooth.

This kit comes with fabric strips (they are reusable and I did actually clean them after so I'll mention that below) which you use in the same way you would wax--placing the strip over the area the MOOM has been applied, rubbing the strip (which was placed over the product) in the same direction in which the hair grows 3 times fast, then quickly pulling the strip off in the opposite direction the hair grows.

Clean Up

Oh my gosh ... clean up was a breeze! Again, I have  used a million hair removal products and usually at the end I'm sitting there scrubbing excess stickiness off my legs, hands, and everything around me. This literally melts away like magic with warm water. It is the easiest hair removal product I've ever used in regards to clean up.

I mentioned above that it comes with reusable cloth strips. I cleaned all of them off and it took about 20 minutes total. They washed 100% clean with just warm water! I have used other systems with reusable strips that were so miserable to clean I threw them away and re-bought over and over. This is so much better to work with.

Price

This system retails for $19.95.

Final Thoughts

I am beyond impressed with this and trust me, I would tell you if I had any issues with it. I even had my sister try it and she loved it as well--and she used to work in a high-end spa back when she was in school. This removes hair well, has a fabulous formula, and cleans up like a dream. I honestly don't know if I've ever used a product that was as great in all 3 areas simultaneously. I will absolutely be using this on myself again in another few weeks and highly recommend trying it if you're looking for this type of hair removal system!

Just to give you an idea of how far this jar will go, I did both my legs, both of my sisters arms, and both of our upper lips and still have enough left over to do a little more.

We all know I'm picky, what can I say? But seriously, bottom line ... rave review, 2 thumbs up, I'm in love!

MOOM Skin Nourishing Brow Shaping Kit

This kit is the other product sent to me by MOOM. I actually used this on my upper lip a couple weeks ago and loved it! I find that I can't use products like this on my eye area because the skin is too sensitive to be pulled on in strips like this, but I would imagine that would work fabulously for anyone that doesn't have this issue as it removes hair as well as the formula above. I love that it comes in a squeeze tube with a slanted tip--makes control much easier.

This retails for $9.99

    1. It's really good! Similar in application to waxing but this one in particular in so much more gentle on the skin from my experience.

    1. Hahaha yeah I like the name, too! It really is fabulous stuff. Not everything I like and review gets put into the list of things I will make a habit of using regularly--this is definitely one of them though.
