Lipstick Queen Profile
You know those brands that hold a special place in your heart? Lipstick Queen is absolutely one of those for me. As a lipstick lover, how can you not appreciate an entire brand founded by a lovely someone that knows just how imperative a good lipstick is? Poppy King is one of my cosmetic heroes *sigh*. I recently reviewed Brat Pack from the ultra-glamorous Velvet Rope collection, which you can read about in a prior post. I totally fell in love with it, as was to be expected.
Lipstick Queen has just released a collection dubbed "The Metals" which consists of 3 metallic lipstick shades perfect for the holidays and this chilly weather! I have Wine Metal to share with you.

LipStick Queen Wine Metal Swatch and Review
Product Type
The Metals are a glamorous collection of satin lippies infused with ultra-finely milled metallic pearl shimmer and several lip beneficial ingredients. They are meant to be comfortable on the lip and creamy to apply.
Flavor/Scent
There was no detectable scent/flavor to me.
Shade
Wine Metal is one of 3 colors in the collection. The micro-shimmer was hard to pick up with my camera, but it is more detectable in person! The shade itself was about half a shade deeper in person on my lips, but because of its reflective qualities it skewed a tad lighter in every shot no matter what I did.

On the Lip
This had a very creamy formula that glided on smoothly and did not tug. It was very lightweight on the lips and while it wasn't hydrating per say, it was not drying either. It did not feather or bleed. While one coat was certainly pigmented enough on its own, I preferred applying 2 for extra depth--first from the tube, then a second with a lip brush. I would recommend applying this over a complementary lip liner to lengthen wear and prevent uneven fading as I would with any lipstick.

My Thoughts
As you know, I'm a huge Lipstick Queen fan. One of my favorite things about Lipstick Queen lippies is the amazingly comfortable, buttery formula. Wine Metal did not disappoint and while it wasn't as hydrating as some of Poppy King's other creations, it was far more comfortable than most metallic lipsticks I have worn. I think Wine Metal is a very refined, sophisticated take on a metallic lippy and I can see this particular shade complementing a number of complexions. I'm absolutely dying to get my hands on the other 2 shades in The Metals collection--Nude Metal and Red Metal--and if I do I'll be sure to post swatches of those as well.
I strongly suggest grabbing any of The Metals to glitz up your holiday looks or add some classy sparkle to your daily style.
I remember my first experience with metallic lipstick was when I was about 11. I had gone to the mall with a friend to go Christmas shopping on our own (for the first time ever) and found this super light-yellow, pearly gold lipstick that I decided I had to have. I bought it and snuck it in my backpack and purse, wearing it when I wasn't home because my parents forbid makeup outside the house at that age and they didn't understand my budding makeup style. *Sigh* memories! It wasn't nearly as comfortable or classy as this shade, but it's always held a special place in my heart.
What was your first experience with metallic lipstick? Would you try Lipstick Queen Wine Metal?
