Swatch & Review: OPI Regis Pink Shatter

My oldest little guy gave this to me for my birthday recently after I'd been dying to try it out since first hearing about it. I have no idea why this pink shatter intrigued me so much, but since I have a serious thing for pink on my nails, I guess it was only natural that I'd want this! Can I just take a moment to say that I am NOT the type of chick that likes pink in general. I occasionally like it when it comes to clothing, but let's just say I'm not the type of girl that wanted pink walls and a pink bedspread growing up. Girly? Yes. Super pink girly? No!

Anyway, I think part of what intrigued me about this shatter was that it wasn't a metallic pink like China Glaze's Haute Metal, it looked more like a traditional pink polish.

OPI Pink Shatter - Released in celebration of breast cancer month (October)

Color Description
This looks like a typical, slightly shimmery pink polish in the bottle.

How well does it shatter or crackle?
This dried and cracked fairly well, but not quite as well as I thought OPI's Silver Shatter did (see my review HERE). It applied well and the formula wasn't too thick or too thin, but it didn't crack as much as I expected.

OPI Regis Pink Shatter - As you can see, this shatter isn't completely pink, it's more of a fuchsia once dried.

This has OPI's wider brush, which I tend to find a bit too wide for my nails. I have fairly narrow nails, so the brush is over half as wide as all of my nails and makes application a bit awkward.

Ease of Application
I though this applied well.

Drying Time
This dried quickly like almost all crackles I've tried, but it did take several minutes for it to fully crack.

Final Thoughts
While I thought this was a bit different than other shatters I've seen, I was a tad disappointed by the fact that it didn't stay as pink as it looked in the bottle once it shattered. I also thought it wasn't quite as opaque as I would have preferred it to be. However, if you're looking for something other than the standard black shatter, you may like this.

I've seen this sell for as low as $6 on Amazon or as much as $11.50 in salons.

Where to Buy
It's reasonably priced on several retailers on Amazon. You can view it HERE.

  1. Hmmm.. I really don't like it. I think that the pink is flat and needs something to liven up and`as you said, more crackle/shatter. Loved that you gave a detailed review. Thx =)

  2. Yeah, I was really hoping for "more"! I'm posting a review on another OPI shatter, this time red. Check back soon ;)
