Review: Leonor Greyl Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou and Lait Luminescence

I was recently given the opportunity to try out some Leonor Greyl hair products! A Parisian company, Leonor Greyl focuses on using natural ingredients to promote hair health--a huge plus to me ;) I have extremely, extremely thick, course black hair that is so darn needy and picky! At this moment, it's very long, too.

At First Glance
Packaging: The Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou comes in a tube while the Lait Luminescence comes in a spray bottle. Both seem to be of decent quality and both were easy to use to dispense products from.

Scent: Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou had a very heavy perfume smell to it. It reminds me of the perfume that an older woman might like. Lait Luminescence had a very pleasant smell that was lighter and clean.

Application/Lather: The shampoo worked into my hair nicely and rinsed easily. I sprayed Lait Luminescence directly into my hair after my shower and it seemed to smooth the tangles out well with some brushing.

Claim v. Reality
Claim (according to the company's site and/or press materials):
Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou - "Cleanses, regenerates and conditions dry or long hair, saving you considerable time while restoring shine and manageability."

Lait Luminescence - "LAIT LUMINESCENCE is a leave-in, de-tangling styling product with exceptional smoothing properties. It nourishes, aids the styling of the most difficult hair and enhances luminosity for the hair lacking shine. This product is full of plant extracts, vegetal oils, and, of course, formulated without silicone. Has UV/UB protection."

Here's the Reality:
Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou
  • Cleansed? Yes.
  • Regenerated and Conditioned? Somewhat
  • Restored shine and manageability? Yes
 Lait Luminescence

I was very impressed with the way my hair looked after using these products, but these products did not soften my hair and I did find my hair tangling a bit more than usual. I felt as though these products were amazing in some ways, but feel a little short in a few areas.

Major Pros or Cons

  • Con - Did experience some uncharacteristic tangling after using products

Would I recommend these or use them again?
I would recommend these to someone with hair that is slightly less thick than my own (which is basically everyone!) as I have found that I typically need products with unusually high levels of moisturizing properties. I am interested to try these a few more times (I tried these for 1 week before reviewing), but so far the results have been consistent for me. The products seem fairly effective, but I feel they're better suited to a slightly different hair type than my own. I was very impressed by how fabulous my hair looked, but when it came to de-tangling I did find that to be an issue. However, I have never had great luck with leave-in conditioners, so someone else with less ridiculous hair may find they have better results when it comes to de-tangling!
